GODSPEED

By the late 21st century, the devastation of World War III forces humanity to seek a new home in the uncharted reaches of space. This cosmic expansion inadvertently awakens an ancient, shadowy entity—a manifestation of humanity's own darkness. In response, the universe seeks balance, forging a luminous force of pure equilibrium known as "Godspeed".

During a routine exploration mission, astronauts Eric and Harry aboard the Siren 9 intercept a mysterious distress signal. They discover Kira, a young girl suffering from amnesia, who harbors an unimaginable and catastrophic power. Hunted by relentless military forces and ruthless machines intent on her destruction, Kira finds an unlikely protector in Dr. James Beckett. Together, they must navigate a shattered galaxy and survive against impossible odds, embarking on a perilous journey to uncover her true identity and her ultimate destiny.

PRODUCTION & ORIGINS

Godspeed holds a deeply personal significance as it was my first fully animated short film. I actually dropped out of my graphic design degree shortly after starting it in order to dedicate myself entirely to this solo endeavor. Acting as a one-man studio, I wrote the script and handled all character preparations using Poser and Vue, before tying the massive project together in Adobe Premiere. The journey was an ambitious leap of faith into digital filmmaking that would ultimately redefine my career path.

VOICE ACTING & SOUNDTRACK

During production, I posted an early trailer on a prominent voice acting forum. The response was overwhelmingly positive, attracting both aspiring talents and seasoned professionals who volunteered to bring the characters to life. The film features the commanding voice of Richard del Olmo—a renowned narrator for National Geographic, BBC, and major video games like World of Warcraft and Grim Fandango—as the villain. It also includes early voice work by Dani Martín, who would later star in Steven Spielberg’s War Horse.

For the audio landscape, I composed an original 13-track soundtrack using FL Studio, a DAW I continue to use today. Long before tools like Kontakt became industry standards, I relied on East West Symphonic Gold, Stormdrum 1, and the Korg Legacy Collection to craft the epic, orchestral atmosphere required for a space opera.

FESTIVALS & LEGACY

The completed short was officially screened at the International Festival ZINEBI 48 (2006) and ZINEBI 49 (2007) during their informative sessions. Although it didn't take home the grand prize, it achieved something far more valuable. Producer Jesús Manuel Montané saw the trailer online and recognized its potential. He acquired the rights to the story, aiming to adapt Godspeed into a feature-length animated television movie. He subsequently hired me to work on the expanded project at his production company. This opportunity prompted me to leave graphic design school for a second time, propelling me directly into the professional VFX and animation industry.
