REAL NEWS, DARK FICTION

In July 2025, astrophysicist Avi Loeb's team at Harvard University published a paper speculating that the newly discovered interstellar object 3I/ATLAS could be an extraterrestrial spacecraft. Its anomalous characteristics—an unusually large size, a complete lack of identifiable chemical compounds, and a trajectory perfectly aligned with the solar system's ecliptic plane—sparked intense scientific debate.

When this news broke, I saw the perfect setup for a sci-fi thriller. What if the wildest theories were true? What if this wasn't a comet, but a precursor to an invasion? I decided to explore this terrifying possibility by creating a "first contact gone wrong" concept trailer, mixing the tension of a documentary with the scale of a Hollywood blockbuster.

THE 48-HOUR SPRINT & VEO 3.1

This project was an absolute sprint against the clock. I discovered the fal Veo 3.1 Competition very close to its deadline, leaving me with exactly 48 hours to conceptualize, generate, and edit the entire piece. I chose the trailer format because it allowed for a rapid narrative structure showcasing multiple shots, pushing the limits of what the AI models could achieve in a short timeframe.

There was no time for a traditional storyboard. I generated the base images directly in FAL using various image generation models, and then brought them to life using the brand-new Veo 3.1 image-to-video model. It was an intense process of prompting on the fly and letting the AI surprise me, assembling the puzzle pieces as they rendered.

SOUND DESIGN & VOICEOVER

A Hollywood-scale invasion needs a Hollywood-scale soundscape. To ground the apocalyptic visuals, I used the track "Epic Hollywood Trailer" by Zakhar Valaha. For the sound effects—the radar interference, the chaotic newsrooms, the eerie magnetic storms—I heavily utilized my personal SFX libraries.

To anchor the narrative, the trailer features news anchors and a solemn broadcast from the President of the United States. These voices were generated and meticulously directed using ElevenLabs, giving the trailer that necessary touch of terrifying realism. Though it didn't win the competition, the trailer garnered a solid reception on Reddit and stands as a testament to what a single creator can achieve in a weekend.

THE UNABRIDGED SCRIPT: "THE VANISHING"

Due to the strict 48-hour deadline, the original script had to be heavily compressed. Here is the full, unabridged vision for the concept trailer:
